Thoughts on 2 Peter 2:19
They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”2 Peter 2:19
Ever wondered why one tries to stop doing something but they are too deep into whatever it is in their lives that they cannot leave? More like having an allegiance to someone or something.
The above verse tells us that we are slaves to whatever we have allowed to control us .It could be a person or thing.
We should be careful to choose wisely what we submit ourselves to, because anything or anyone who is not of the Holy Spirit will be subject to an idol.
Our submission should be to the Lord Jesus, as He is the only one who will never do anything ill towards us. He has the best interests for all who believe in Him.
Prayer: Lord help me to give myself to you as the Lord of my life. Help me to always choose you as my master and friend. Amen.
