LOVE THROUGH OBEDIENCE

The main thing in the gospels is the love of God towards mankind which is portrayed through Jesus Christ. Every single thing Jesus did, like healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding the hungry, even preaching, shows God’s unfailing love and goodness towards mankind. In John 5:19,Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. He could not do anything of Himself. This shows that we are to depend on God with everything in us. That way we are able to know His will and obey His commands.

Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God and how we are to live life in obedience just as He had shown by example.

Love towards God is through our obedience to Him and not just mere words without actions.

We are expected to live in obedience to the Lord’s teachings because they are a guide unto our life here on earth as the psalmist says in Psalm 119:105, ‘Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.’

In the gospel according to John 14:30-31, “I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.” Jesus Christ was preparing His disciples for His death by telling them of things that were to happen. From this,we see the Lord talking about how His death was going to show His love to the world and His obedience to God.

When we do what God has asked us to do, Satan who is the prince of this world flees. He cannot win when one is in obedience to God.

Satan is the father of disobedience and that is why he tries his level best to make the children of God miss it and disobey. He has nothing over us if we, are living in total obedience to God.

The Holy Spirit is another advocate after Jesus, John 14:16-17, ‘And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. He represents us and prays for us with unexplainable groanings. He is in us and teaches us all truth. Just like our Lord Jesus Christ can do nothing on His own, we need to fix our gaze on Him who is the Way and let Him guide us.

We need to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit of God who will guide us in all truth.

When all has failed, we have another advocate who is for us and if we let Him, He will lead us in the right path. He is gentle and in Him there is liberty. He teaches, convicts, fills and guides. He is the Holy Spirit who is in us and with us always. He gives us the ability to obey the Father, because by our own strength, we fail, we fall short of God’s glory. The Holy Spirit helps us to grow to maturity when we submit to His leading.

The Father’s will is for us to be one with Him, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Our desire should be to know Him, to serve Him and dwell where He is. We cannot do anything without God no matter how much we may deceive ourselves that it is our doing. The strength we have, breathe, the grace, the anointing, the favor, the life, I could go on and on because we have been blessed abundantly by our Maker, but all of this blessings are from Him and because of Him, not us.

The least we can do is trust and obey that whatever He is telling us to do is nothing but for our best interest.

Just imagine being the friend of God, the Author of life, the all knowing God, Omnipresent God, and the One who holds the world in His hands. It is the best thing that can happen to any human being and it can only happen when we obey His commands, John 15:13-15Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.’

Today make a resolution to be a friend of God. Start by just obeying even when it does not make sense at the moment, just obey and it will make sense in His time. It is not our place to make sense of the things of God with our own logic, 1 Corinthians 2:14, ‘But people who aren't spiritual can't receive these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can't understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.’ With the help of the Holy Spirit we will be able to discern what is happening. Let Him guide you as you obey God’s instructions in your life.
