Thoughts on Ephesians 5:1-2
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.Ephesians 5:1-2
As a child is growing up, they start doing things like cooking, driving, looking after children through play pretend games. This is because they see the parents do it in real life and they try to imitate the actions of the adults .That is how they learn as they grow.
Just as the children imitate the adults in their lives, so are we to imitate the actions of Father God. We are to love as He loves, and even give up ourselves for the sake of others. This could be giving up something so that another person in need can benefit from it.
What can you do in your life that will imitate the character of God? What can you give up so another can benefit? How can you show love towards another person? Think about the above scripture and ask the Holy Spirit for understanding as to what you should do.
Prayer: Almighty Father, help me to follow Your ways so that I may do things as You do. Give me the grace to imitate You so that I can do things according to Your will in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen
